There are about 24,000 butterfly species in the world and 4,000 in Ecuador which is the country with the highest number of species, even though Colombia and Peru have similar numbers, they are 5 times bigger than Ecuador, which means Ecuador has the highest density by far, it also means that traveling just short distances can get you many more new species.

At choco toucan reserve we have many amazing butterfly species including what many call the most beautiful butterfly in the world which is the blue morphos.

If you are in to butterflies as much as we are, we also offer day tours to other butterfly gardens in the area to enjoy additional species.
