Yanacocha Reserve has some incredible views of the mountains along the northern flanks and ridges of the Pichincha Volcano as well as flower plantations. We will be above green mountains and valleys. We will find a multitude of high-altitude hummingbirds and tanagers with beautiful views of natural splendor. Here we will find some impressive species that you will not see again anywhere else in the whole area such as the two biggest hummingbirds in the world, the Giant Hummingbird and the Great Sapphirewing; and the Sword-Billed Hummingbird with the longest beak of all and also the only bird in the world with its beak longer than its body. We will also find some unique and particularly large tanagers such as the Black Chested Mountain Tanager or the Scarlet Bellied Mountain Tanager, so pay close attention. Offers great look-outs and landscape photography opportunities.
Yanacocha is also part of the Jocotoco foundation which is doing some extraordinary effort in the conservation and recovery of our forests so by visiting this reserve we are contributing to this effort.
